Love, Life and the List - Kasie West

As I've been sick for a few days I have been able to read a little more. Yesterday I felt for a cute, warm and fuzzy read and a contemporary book seemed like a good choice.

I have actually not read that many contemporary books, and as the fall and winter have been like all in for thrillers and crime I think it's time for some cute stories...right?! :)

Kasie West is a new author for me. Well, I knew about her and I've heard great things about her books but I've never read anything by her. So, I thought I should give her books a try :) I found Love, Life and the List on the Storytel app and decided yesterday to press PLAY and listen to it.

Synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Abby Turner’s summer isn’t going the way she’d planned. She has a not-so-secret but definitely unrequited crush on her best friend, Cooper. She hasn’t been able to manage her mother’s growing issues with anxiety. And now she’s been rejected from an art show because her work “has no heart.” So when she gets another opportunity to show her paintings Abby isn’t going to take any chances.

Which is where the list comes in.

Abby gives herself one month to do ten things, ranging from face a fear (#3) to learn a stranger’s story (#5) to fall in love (#8). She knows that if she can complete the list she’ll become the kind of artist she’s always dreamed of being. But as the deadline approaches, Abby realizes that getting through the list isn’t as straightforward as it seems… and that maybe—just maybe—she can’t change her art if she isn’t first willing to change herself.

I was enjoying this book, so I finished by listening to it in one day. I am not used to listening to an audiobook in that short of time, but it was just a few hours long cause I could listen to it at the highest speed on the app without being too fast for me :)

It's a cute book, but it was pretty predictable and how I predicted it to end...it did! I don't want to do a spoiler here, so I can't go into details about it. But I felt the focus was a little too much on other things than the things that I was hoping for, so that is why my rate isn't higher. But it was an easy book to listen to and loved the narrator Caitlyn Kelly.

I give Love, Life and the List 3 of 5 stars.

Do you have a favorite Kasie West book?
